New Registry Proposed in Providence for Landlords Who Rent to Students
If a landlord fails to register, the City of Providence could fine the landlord $100 - $500 per day per unit that is rented without registration.
A proposed Providence ordinance An Ordinance Amending Chapter 14, “Licenses”, of the Code of Ordinances “Student Housing Providers” - City of Providence would require owners of non-owner occupied property who rent to four or more full-time or part-time post-secondary students in the same building to obtain a license from the City of Providence and pay an annual registration of $500 per year per student. This would apply only if all of the tenants are students.
